Dental Bridge | Bespoke treatment for replacing missing teeth

One of the most popular methods of replacing missing teeth, the dental bridge makes use of the teeth either side of a gap to hold a new tooth in place. This type of treatment is particularly useful where there are fewer teeth to replace as it helps to keep artificial teeth stable and prevents them drifting from their position.

How Do Dental Bridges Work?

At Laffan Dental, we offer both metal and composite bridges. While metal dental bridges are cheaper, they do stand out more than the natural looking alternative, which can blend into your smile to create a flawless look. A dental bridge can also be hand-made from porcelain to create an artificial tooth that’s almost identical to the natural tooth it replaces.

The treatment process requires the existing teeth either side of the gap to be reduced by around 1mm in preparation for the bridge. The artificial tooth will then be cemented into place, leaving the dental bridge floating in the gap to create the appearance of a flawless smile.

Frequently Asked Question

The length of time a bridge will remain in place changes from patient to patient, but typically they will last up to 10 years or more if properly cared for.

Bridges made from composite or porcelain can look natural, and once fitted its often hard to spot the difference between the bridge and the natural teeth.

Implants can be a good option if you want to avoid reducing healthy teeth either side of your gap. However, bridges remain a better option if you already require crowns on adjacent teeth or want a cheaper treatment.
